WELL Health-Safety Ratings & WELL Certifications
In 2024, Sunrise earned the prestigious WELL Health-Safety Rating at scale, awarded by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) for the second consecutive year. This rating reflects our dedication to health-focused building operations, including cleaning and sanitization procedures, emergency preparedness, health resources, stakeholder engagement, and innovation.
In addition to the Health-Safety Rating, two of our communities have achieved significant milestones in their WELL Certification journeys:
- The Apsley in Manhattan achieved WELL Certification Platinum, the highest level of recognition
- East 56th in Manhattan is distinguished by LEED Silver, WELL Certification Silver, and the WELL Health-Safety Rating
Sunrise received the 2023 Health and Safety Leadership Award from IWBI, further cementing our role as leaders in creating healthier, safer, and more sustainable living environments.

Notably, Sunrise of Windsor was awarded the 2024 Energy Star Canada Award for Building of the Year – Senior Living Community and Residential Care Facility. This marks Sunrise of Windsor’s fourth Energy Star Canada award, having previously been honored in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
